Sketch is a macOS design application built by designers for designers, with a deliberately focused toolset, an intuitive interface and an infinite canvas for creating everything from single icons to entire applications. Its stated design goal is to keep the designer's work at the centre without distractions introduced by other stakeholders.
The vector editor provides precision tools for drawing and editing, while Stack layouts and nestable frames handle structure and responsive arrangement as designs grow. Real-time co-editing lets several people work in the same document together, and prototypes can be built and animated with Smart Animate to demonstrate flows rather than static screens. Developer handoff and inspection tools cover the transition from design into implementation.
Unusually for a collaborative design tool, Sketch also works offline, so a document remains editable without a live connection. Sketch is hosted on AWS in the us-east-1 region across multiple availability zones, with a Private Cloud offering that allows hosting in the US or EU.
