Paycom overview

Paycom is a cloud human capital management platform for United States employers, built on a design decision it has held since 1998: everything runs in a single database. Payroll, HR records, time and labour, benefits, talent acquisition, performance and learning are modules over one data store rather than separate systems connected by integrations, so a change to an employee record propagates everywhere without a sync job that can fail silently.

Its most distinctive product is Beti, which inverts who checks payroll. Instead of an HR team reconciling a payroll register before submission, employees are guided through verifying and approving their own paychecks in advance — the people best placed to notice that a shift, a deduction or an address is wrong. Errors are caught before processing rather than corrected after, which is the expensive path. GONE applies the same automated-decisioning idea to time-off requests, and IWant provides natural-language querying over employee data without navigating the interface.

Around that sit the modules a mid-market employer would otherwise buy separately: automated tax filing across all fifty states and local jurisdictions, benefits administration with carrier feeds and COBRA, applicant tracking with branded career sites and I-9 management, time and labour with geofencing and scheduling, learning management, and reporting through Direct Data Exchange and executive dashboards.

Service is delivered through a dedicated client representative per account rather than a ticket queue. Paycom reported 2025 revenue of $2.05 billion and client retention of 91%, and has been publicly listed since 2014.
