MEGA is a cloud storage and collaboration service built around user-controlled end-to-end encryption. Files are encrypted in the browser or client before upload, and the decryption keys stay with the user, so MEGA itself cannot read stored content — a zero-knowledge posture that is the entire product argument rather than an added feature.
The service covers file storage and sync across Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android, encrypted file and folder sharing through links that carry the key in the fragment, encrypted chat and voice and video calling, and a backup client. A notably generous free tier gives twenty gigabytes, expandable through referrals and app installs. Paid Pro plans scale storage and monthly transfer allowance together, from four hundred gigabytes of storage with a terabyte of transfer on Pro Lite up to sixteen terabytes on Pro III, with business plans priced per user.
