Evernote is a note-taking and knowledge capture application built around the idea of a single searchable archive. Notes hold rich text, images, audio, sketches, attachments and scanned documents, organised into notebooks, stacks and spaces with tags cutting across them.
Its longest-standing strength is search: optical character recognition reads text inside images, scans and PDFs, so a photographed receipt or whiteboard is findable by its contents. Web Clipper captures full pages, simplified articles, bookmarks or screenshots straight into a notebook, and the document scanner turns a phone camera into a filing tool.
Tasks, calendar integration and Home dashboards were added to pull work into one view, and AI features now cover transcription, editing assistance and search. Plans are Free at fifty notes and one gigabyte, Starter at a thousand notes with three-device sync and AI access, Advanced with unlimited notes, storage and devices, and Enterprise adding centralised administration, user management, single sign-on and a dedicated success manager. Evernote has been owned by Bending Spoons since 2023, which has repeatedly restructured its plans and pricing.
