CRYENGINE is presented by Crytek as the complete solution for next generation game development, giving every licensee full source code, all engine features and access to all supported platforms rather than a cut-down edition.
Out of the box it provides a fully-featured sandbox editor for seamless world creation, realtime dynamic global illumination with a physically based rendering workflow, and a complete physics solution including dynamic destruction. It also ships a powerful particle effects system alongside its animation and rendering systems.
Target platforms include PC, Xbox, PlayStation and VR devices such as Oculus. The engine has shipped commercially released titles including Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Prey and Star Citizen. Commercial terms are royalty-based rather than subscription-based: CRYENGINE can be used for free, with a five percent royalty applying once a project ships, and the first five thousand US dollars of annual revenue per project is royalty-free, so early revenue is not charged against the licence.
