Amwell differs from the pure telehealth networks in what it sells: rather than positioning its own clinician network as the product, Amwell primarily supplies the platform on which health systems, health plans and government programmes run their own branded virtual care with their own providers.
The Converge platform handles scheduled and on-demand visits, waiting rooms, multi-party consults, interpreter services, clinical documentation, and integration into Epic and Cerner so a virtual visit lands in the same chart as an in-person one. Modules extend into automated care programmes for behavioural health, chronic conditions, maternity and musculoskeletal care, delivering digital cognitive behavioural therapy and guided programmes between clinician contacts.
Hospital-focused capability covers acute care carts and peripherals for tele-stroke, tele-ICU, tele-psychiatry and specialist consults across facilities. Amwell's own Medical Group is available where a customer needs supplemental clinician coverage rather than as the primary offering. Contracts are enterprise, priced by platform licence, module and visit volume, and quoted individually. Amwell is publicly traded and headquartered in Boston.
